The 2014 populace was estimated to be 102,189. Clovis is positioned 6.5 miles (10.5 km) northeast of downtown Fresno, at an altitude of 361 feet (110 m). 5.1 Clovis Unified School District The town/city of Clovis began as a freight stop along the San Joaquin Valley Railroad.

Williams, in partnership with Michigan barns speculator Marcus Pollasky, the SJVRR began assembly in Fresno on July 4, 1891, and reached the farmlands of Clovis Cole and George Owen by October of that year.

In 1999 it was moved to its present locale in the town's center, at the northeast corner of Clovis Avenue and Fourth Street, and was restored by the Clovis Big Dry Creek Historical Society with financing, labor, and materials donated by small-town businesses and contractors.

Older storefronts on Clovis Avenue, the chief street running through town, have been restored and new buildings have been designed with facades that resemble those found in the early 20th century.
