The town/city of Buellton is one of the communities that make up the Santa Ynez Valley.

According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town/city has a total region of 1.6 square miles (4.1 km2), 99.96% of it territory and 0.04% of it water.

Buellton is on the Santa Ynez River in the Santa Ynez Valley, and in 2004 was one of the fastest-growing suburbs in central Santa Barbara County.
